创作背景
歌曲最初只由贾斯汀·汀布莱克、提姆巴兰和丹贾创作。在完成第二段副歌后，贾斯汀·汀布莱克认为这首歌曲还需要一个说唱歌手来使它更完美。最初，贾斯汀·汀布莱克準备邀请Jay-Z，而当时Jay-Z正与碧昂斯合作《Déjà Vu》，于是贾斯汀又找到了T.I.来合作。
鼓点与电子琴由提姆巴兰和丹贾负责，提姆巴兰与吉米·道格拉斯负责混音。歌曲的录製在位于维吉尼亚比奇的Thomas Crown录音室与位于好莱坞的Conway完成。

《My Love》融合了节奏布鲁士和嘻哈风格，其音调以E小调为主，其和弦依循“Eb-Bb-Ab”进行，其拍子记号为为四分之四拍，拥有每分钟121次的适度节拍。作为录音歌手，贾斯汀的音域必须控制在A3到D6之间。
