BBC抢先将尚未发行任何单曲的Hurts选入「2010年最受注目的新声音(Sound of 2010)」名单第四名、Guardian钦点「年度最佳乐队」，英国传媒更称之为「忧郁流行乐 (Gloom Pop)」。
主唱是Theo Hutchcraft，出生于英国北约克郡，从小就跟随家人待过澳洲、中东等国家，在音乐的想法上，也颇具世界观。身兼吉他、鼓手与电子乐手的Adam Anderson，祖父曾于英国女王面前演奏斑鸠琴，同时在战争时期担当表演劳军者，也让Adam从小就跟音乐结下不解之缘。2005年的圣诞节前夕，Theo和Adam各自与朋友相聚在同一家夜店，但是，彼此的友人在店门口一言不合打起来，两人却在一旁兴奋的聊起音乐。就这样别人打的伤痕累累，他们却快乐的遇到知己，Hurts也就一拍即合的羽化成型。回到家后，他俩开始利用网路互动合作，Adam先编好背景乐器的伴奏，再寄出由Theo配唱录製，最后完成共通合作的原始DEMO带。
