功能得到字元串左部指定个数的字元。
语法Left (string,n)
参数string：string类型，指定要提取子串的字元串n：long类型，指定子串长度返回值String。函式执行成功时返回string字元串左边n个字元，发生错误时返回空字元串（""）。如果任何参数的值为NULL，Left()函式返回NULL。如果n的值大于string字元串的长度，那幺Left()函式返回整个string字元串，但并不增加其它字元。
例如，在学生课表course中，分别有cno,cname,cpno,credit四列。其中有一项记录为：1，资料库，5，4。在SQL分析器中输入：

LEFT
根据所指定的字元数，LEFT 返回文本字元串中第一个字元或前几个字元。
LEFTB 基于所指定的位元组数返回文本字元串中的第一个或前几个字元。
要点 函式 LEFT 面向使用单位元组字元集 (SBCS) 的语言，而函式 LEFTB 面向使用双位元组字元集 (DBCS) 的语言。您计算机上的默认语言设定对返回值的影响方式如下：
- 无论默认语言设定如何，函式 LEFT 始终将每个字元（不管是单位元组还是双位元组）按 1 计数。
- 当启用支持 DBCS 的语言的编辑并将其设定为默认语言时，函式 LEFTB 会将每个双位元组字元按 2 计数，否则，函式 LEFTB 会将每个字元按 1 计数。
支持 DBCS 的语言包括日语、中文（简体）、中文（繁体）以及朝鲜语。

Text 是包含要提取的字元的文本字元串。
Num_chars 指定要由 LEFT 提取的字元的数量。
- Num_chars 必须大于或等于零。
- 如果 num_chars 大于文本长度，则 LEFT 返回全部文本。
- 如果省略 num_chars，则假设其值为 1。
Num_bytes 按位元组指定要由 LEFTB 提取的字元的数量。
