创建于1989年的Aqua合唱团由来自挪威的女主唱Lene Nystrom、DJ Rene Norren和Claus Noreen、Soren Rasted四位成员组成，他们造型定位鲜明，有着很强的卡通味道，老少皆宜。曲风则是以目前十分流行且上口的Techno舞曲为主。1996年的EP大碟《My oh My》使他们一鸣惊人，而翌年专辑里的《Barbie Girl》更令Aqua的卡通舞曲风潮席捲了欧美、日本和东南亚地区。

1997年以舞曲《Barbie Girl》红透全世界、并造访过北京的丹麦四人团体“水叮噹合唱团”（Aqua），上周在专属网站上对歌迷发表一份书面声明指出：“如今我们已经领悟到缺乏创作灵感的现实”。正式宣布解散，震惊乐迷乃至全世界乐坛。

“水叮噹合唱团”发行的《Aquarius》《Barbie Girl》《Doctor Jones》《Bumble Bees》及《Around the World》等专辑及单曲在世界乐坛上均有出色表现，他们也是到目前为止最成功站上国际舞台的丹麦流行乐团，并重新开创了一个舞曲时代。

从1997年迄今，4年来这个团体创下了全球2800万张唱片销售纪录。他们在一起的5年里，水叮噹已经成为了丹麦有史以来最成功的音乐组合，有多首歌曲在50个国家登上排行榜冠军。

Lene身为前北欧知名乐团Aqua水叮噹的女主唱，1997年以冠军单曲《Barbie Girl》红遍大街小巷。她带有童稚气息的独特甜美声线同时也颇具张力和韧性，不仅成为“水叮噹”的“注册商标”，更在国际乐坛上引领了“卡通女声”的火热风潮。Lene极富表现力和感染力的演唱方式也是不能忽视的，在电影《Sliding Door》的插曲《Turn Back Time》中的优异表现让她的歌唱事业更上一层楼，同时也似乎揭示了Lene完全具备单飞独闯天下的音乐潜能。

在2009年6月15日在丹麦和瑞典先行发行的《Greatest Hits》，是北欧丹麦国宝舞曲乐团Aqua水叮噹的第二张精选集。

虽然Aqua再次出山，但仍然抱着外界的颇多质疑，水叮噹要想回到曾经的辉煌似乎已经不再现实，但一张精选可以把歌迷久远的思绪重新带回90年代属于水叮噹的世界中，重温曾经的感动。他们的复出，某种程度上说不也是帮着我们寻找逝去的青春吗？

他们出道的第一张专辑《Aquarium》中的单曲《Barbie Girl》、《Doctor Jones》、《Turn Back Time》销量便超出百万。其中《Barbie Girl》更是将Aqua塑造成为乐坛最具卡通个性的流行乐队。

1997年的大热金曲《Barbie Girl》使他们在国际乐坛扬名立万。可以预料，玩具公司MATTEL对于影射他们冠军销量的娃娃非常不开心，指控Aqua的唱片公司侵权。不过此举并没有阻止这首单曲在全球卖出4百万张。

他们全欧冠军单曲《Barbie Girl》和《Doctor Jones》也迅速地在世界各地的舞池和大街小巷四处蔓延。随即，卡通舞曲的形式亦被许多新兴的舞曲组合和歌手们争相效仿，连“小燕子”赵薇那张狂卖的专辑《爱情大魔咒》也忍不住借Aqua的热门单曲《Doctor Jones》的旋律火了一把。

Aqua的唱片公司MCA所说的一句话：“就算你是家中最顽固、最守旧、最土气的人，也没有办法在这首充满强劲而刺激节奏的舞曲下，安静的坐在你的椅子上”。

Lene那像小童的有趣而又悦耳的声线，和Rene那独特已又像老牛声的Rap Talk，形成了鲜明的对比。有趣的歌曲编排，动听又充满动力的旋律，简单而有易记的歌词，加上又能将人人皆知的玩具“Barbie”熔合在强劲跳舞节奏中，使这首歌成了当时独一无二的歌曲。怪不得这首歌会成为他们一炮而红的作品。
